Some people discover Baja. Others become part of it.

Born in Sweden to Italian parents and educated in the French school system before studying Business in London, Andrea Tomba's international upbringing would eventually lead him to the place he now simply calls home. In 1994, he settled in La Paz, Baja California Sur, where his passion for the ocean led him to establish a successful diving and watersports center. As a PADI Master Instructor, freediver, and accomplished spearfisherman, he organized international competitions, including Spearfishing World Cups, and guided expeditions that produced several world-record catches.

But while the Sea of Cortez first captured his imagination, it was Baja's desert that ultimately captured his heart.

Introduced to off-road racing by the local community, Andrea purchased his first race car in 1996 and began what would become a three-decade racing career. From Class 9 and Class 7 to Class 6, Class 8 Open, Wide Open BCs, Trophy Spec, Class 5 Open, and Trophy Truck, he has competed across nearly every level of Baja racing. Along the way he earned multiple Baja championships, celebrated a SCORE Baja 1000 class victory, stood
on numerous podiums, and experienced the unforgettable privilege of driving hundreds of miles in the legendary 50th Anniversary SCORE Baja 1000. 

Through it all, Baja has been about far more than racing. Decades spent exploring its deserts, mountains, coastlines, and hidden ranches have given Andrea a deep appreciation for the peninsula and, above all, the people who call it home. The friendships built with ranching families, fishermen, racers, and adventurers have shaped his understanding of Baja far more than any trophy ever could.

That lifelong connection has inspired every chapter of his career—from leading adventure expeditions and operating tourism businesses to writing for *Baja Traveler* Magazine and other publications that celebrate the Baja lifestyle. Today, it also inspires Baja Race Wear, a brand born from firsthand experience and built around a simple idea: if you've spent thousands of miles racing Baja, you know exactly what race gear should be.
